My blackberry bold 9700

hey, i am new to the blackberry and i bought a at&t 9700 bold, and got it unlocked but now that i activate the phone n wanted to use the instant messenger (Ping) n it just wont work! can someone please help me out? thanks

When you activated it, you did it through the carrier to ensure that you got the BlackBerry Data Plan on your Bold, right? If you just switched the sim card from another phone to the Bold, without a BlackBerry Data Plan, then some apps won't work properly.

Aside from that, it may just be an issue with the app.

Call your carrier and have them addon a blackberry data plan, or it could also be an IT policy.

To use the data services on Blackberry phones you need BIS (Blackberry internet service).

With your unlocked Blackberry Bold 9700 device you can use sim cards from any GSM carrier.
after inserting a sim in the sim card slot of your unlocked Blackberry Bold 9700 handset you will get signal and calls / SMS will work.
To have Data you need to contact your carrier and get a "Blackberry Data plan". then update the service books on your Blackberry.
