Default the memory on your device is low. Please close some tabs

After upgrading to OS6 I keep getting this message while using the browser "the memory on your device is low. Please close some tabs" And then after a few seconds it says something about the page being too large and then it closes the browser.

I have been able to reproduce this many times, one time it will always occur is if I am on m.facebook.com and then click on a link in facebook: 10 illegal baby names | Yahoo! Lifestyle - Yahoo! Lifestyle UK

So when that happens I only have those 2 tabs open and No other apps.

There are other times it happens but that is one I have been able to reproduce. It happens everytime, not always right away though, usually after a few seconds on that yahoo page.

    Other details:
    Model: BB 9700
    OS: 6.0.0.723
    Free Memory: 31,079,456

With 31MB free there is no reason that I know of that I should be getting that message. Is there anything I can do or try?

    Thanks.

PS on OS5 it would never do this...

Welcome to the beauty that is OS6 on the 9700. This is my number one peeve about this phone/OS. I get this constantly, and I doubt there is anything you can do about it if you want to preserve a rich web browsing experience.

You may have some better luck by disabling javascript and images in the browser options.

What's RIM's fix for this? Buy a 9780. One of the reasons my next phone will likely be an Android. While this isn't my only reason, RIM as a whole desperately needs to "get with the times."

As Sifka said, this is a major drawback when running OS6 on a 9700. RIM made these OS6 versions so you could use them if you want to. IT'S NOT OBLIGITORY.

Just downgrade to OS5 which is the correct OS for your device.

Personally, I like OS6 and will stick with it till my upgrade but my wife has always been running OS5 and is more than happy with it.

If you want to stay on OS6 then use Opera Mini as your browser for large web pages and issues resolved.

Opera Mini is a good alternative, but it does not display the page as nicely/with as many functions like on the BB browser. Its the only drawback of os6 on a 9700, but I find the pro's outweigh the cons. Os5 is too outdated IMO.

The more data a page has on it the more likely it is going to happen. 4 tabs of the mobile version of the crackberry forums website is fine, but it takes just 2 of the desktop version to run out of memory. Either deal with it and be concious of your browsing, or get opera of downgrade if it bugs you.

As I said earlier, OS6 is not obligatory. I love it though. Been running it for 15 months now and would never drop back.

As Andy said, use Opera Mini. Problem solved.

I disabled JavaScript (but Not images) and it appears to be fixed. It's been 2 days and no further issues.

    Thanks!

This happens to me all too often on my 9700 with OS 6 but with rolling back to OS 5, most likely, the page would never load up at all.

Essentially, it's more like a "choose your poison" scenario.

lol interesting take on it :P . I would disable javascript but I find its at the core of every webpage.. It isnt like disabling flash. I find you need javascript.
