Default Linked Gmail only showing new messages

I'm having a weird issue with my gmail account I have set up on my blackberry. I recently purchased a 9700 upgrading from my sad old 8320. right before I switched phones I signed up for a data plan. On my 8320 when I added my gmail account every message in my inbox was available for me to view or move. Once I put the latest official OS6 on my 9700, put my sim card in, and activated my gmail account there were no messages in there. New messages show up but I have no way of looking up old messages. I have already tried removing the account via my blackberry and re adding it to no avail. Can anyone help me resolve this?

You might want to remove the enhanced gmail plugin, or this is the way gmail works. None of the old messages on mine even show up.

How do I remove the plug in? Is this something that only happens with OS 6? I would like to use the BES mail in order to get notifications and sync with my Google calender rather than using the web app.

It's within Options (type app) > Applications. But if it still doesn't bring in older e-mails, forward them to yourself and you'll then get them.

This is how google and all BIS email accounts work. Install a new OS and old messages do not get pulled in from the server. If there were old messages on your device, they'll be restored.

I don't like how BlackBerry handles gmail very much.

Can't you search for old gmails though using Options, Advanced search?

I do this after I've deleted a gmail from my device and then want to view it again.

This is why I have my BlackBerry emails settings to only delete on device and not computer. So that I can retrieve old emails later after ive deleted from device.

I don't like how it's handled either. I guess I'll just use the web app. Is there anyway to make notifications appear based on using the gmail web app? As in a beep and icon like a text message)

Also, the web app doesn't seem to have settings for me to hide the yellow importance markers, is there anyway to hide the icons?

Removing the enhanced gmail plugin works.

It did not for me. I removed my gmail account from my device, removed the plug in then re added my gmail. It give me a seemingly arbitrary list of messages, most of which I moved out of my inbox and archived days ago. Couple hours later and after manual hitting the reconcile button nothing has changed. I can navigate into other folders but they are not the folders in my gmail account. Did you have a different experience after removing EGP? With T-mobile is there a way to remove my email via my account rather then only on the device?

Also, Rootbrain, that uninstall method did not work. With OS6 EGP does not show up as an installed app I had to use BBSAK to remove the proper COD files. I have seen people give those same instructions but they do not seem to work with the latest OS.

This is not just a gmail issue. This is how BlackBerry works. If your device checks the server and doesn't see unread messages received after the account was activated on the device, it doesn't pull them in from the server.

Personally I have fine-tuned my connections with google apps accounts and plain gmail accounts. Are there limitations to what I can do using the Messages app on my BlackBerry? Yes. But I know how to get around them.

And if anyone is interested in using google's old gmail app, I have an OTA hosted - the link is in a thread named "One day too late for gmail" or something like that. The app will provide an option for notification on new messages. Simply using the web interface will not.
