i need help unlocking my BB Bold 9700

This is my first smart phone and I want to be able to use it to its full potential. I use a pre paid AT&T go phone SIM card and even bought a data plan but still cannot use facebook

Do you have a Blackberry specific data plan? If not FB and others will not work.

even unlocking it will not allow you to use Blackberry services like facebook, twitter, and email. VERY frustrating, coming from a former 9700 abuser on T-Mobile.

Seriously? I can't view facebook on BB Bold? That does not seem right, the phone costed $450 a year ago. Does ATT have BB specific plans?

AT&T does not support BlackBerry Data on GoPhone PrePaid.

You need a contract plan on AT&T. And a BlackBerry specific data plan.

The statement above about TMobile is incorrect, however. With the proper data plan, you can use those applications.

The only "benefit" to unlocking a phone is to be able to use it on a different compatible carrier than the one to which it is branded.

There IS a BlackBerry specific DATA Plan on AT&T. But NOT on GoPhone.
