Default I found a BlackBerry Bold 9700

Hello!
Today while working a stumbled upon a BlackBerry Bold 9700. The first thing i noticed that there were 1 unread sms and 1 missed call. Because i had a really tight schedule, i decided, to put the phone into my bag, and try to reach its owner when i get home.
When i got home, a tried to open up the contacts, but the phone is password protected, and a didnt even bother to crack it, cause i know that you only have 10 tries, and after that the phone wipes itself. The second thing i tried, is to take out the sim card, and put it into my phone and try to find the owners parents or gf/bf (this was a mistake), cause the sim was pin code locked..
The phone is from vodafone. What are my options here?
I know i should return it to a vodafone store, but the ones in my area are already closed. I live in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. I'm gona try to find a store to return it tomorrow, but I dont know if any of the stores will be open since tomorrow is Xmas Eve. Is there anyway to get the contacts without cracking the password? I checked the SD card, only pictures and some apps (i think) are stored on it. (I dont want to crack the password, cause i dont want to keep the phone. I just thought that the owner wants his phone back asap)
All the best,
Greg

The only thing you can do is wait for the owner to call the phone, or bring it into a store as soon as you can.

The owner was smart in that they password protected it, but wasn't very smart that they didn't put some kind of message on the lock screen.

Good job on the recovery and honesty. I would contact Vodafone and let them know what happened and ask them what to do with it. Not sure in the Netherlands but Christmas Eve most places are still open.

keep the phone switched on the owner or some one will surely call, have patience. and respect to you for returning it or at least for trying coz many ppl will just walk off with a phone let alone a Blackberry.

The second thing i tried is to put the BB-s simcard into my phone, to try to call the owner parents or gf/bf. The sim card was pin locked, so it was a really stupid thing to take it out, because now the phone is unreachable. (stupid me..)
Im going to try to return it tomorrow to a vodafone store here in the center. Maybe they will be open. If not, then on the 27th ill try again.
Thanks for the replies guys!
Greg

Some update:
I phoned vodafones customer service. They asked some numbers from the sim card, but they couldnt reach the owner since it was a pay and go contract. They told me that i should bring it to the police. So i went to the nearest police station and gave them the phone. They asked a few questions (where i found it, my name, phone number etc). So anyway they have the phone now and i hope they will be able to track its owner down.

That's super nice that you did that. I lost a blackberry a few years ago and had 16 gig card with a lot of stuff on it. I left my phone for like under 2 minutes and I ran back and it was gone! Never did get it back. Occasionally, I use a pay as you g on AT & T and when I registered, I provided my contact info. I wonder if they pay as you go customers in the US for a lost phone?

Thank you for doing the right thing and making every attempt you could to get the BlackBerry back to the owner. I dunno how many threads I've seen in the past three years of people doing the opposite. Bravo!
