How do I see if a SMS message has been delivered and read?
I have the Bold 9700 with AT and T. I know that you can see the little "D" and "R" (meaning delivered and received) above the check mark in instant messaging from blackberry to blackberry, and I heard that the same feature is available for SMS messages.

Well, I can say I've never heard of that for SMS/MMS, and it's why I chose BBM over those for my BB buddies.
If it's out there, it's news to me and I would LOVE to know about it.
I don't know if all phones that would be on the receiving the SMS/MMS have the ability to report that info (Delivered/Read) back to the phone system.

You can call the person and ask em. the D and R are BBM indications. When the D was displayed on SMS, it was indicating that the message was delivered to the SMS deposit server for delivery.

The R will never show up for SMS. The D will, and is for Delivery confirmation only.
I've heard the D wont show up with certain carriers going to other certain carriers, but tmobile has shown the D for all of them. - 06-25-2010, 10:43 AM #5
Correct, for SMS the "D" will only show up depending on your carrier.
With verizon for instance, it will show up with in-network messaging only (VZW to VZW texting) to show the recipient's handheld received the message.Storm 9530 - 5.0.0.328
