Has this ever happened to anyone?
First, I'm a long time lurker but first time poster. It's nice to find a site where I don't have to be ashamed of my BlackBerry addiction

The real reason I am writing is to see if anyone else has ever had this happen to them.
I currently own both a Curve (AT&T, personal cell) and an 8830 (Sprint, work cell). It was upgrade time on my Curve and I decided to take advantage of the Bold 9700 for free offer from WalMart. So I ordered last week and with much anxiousness waited for it to arrive in the mail. It showed up yesterday and for 2 hours all was well. I was happily enjoying my new 3G, WiFi, Trackpad having hardware. All of the sudden while changing my tones for messages the phone locked up, I couldn't do anything. I figured no big deal I'll just do a battery pull and restart. I pulled the battery and tried to turn it on...nothing, the phone wouldn't start up. I figured maybe I ran the new battery down too far, so I plugged it in for charging and tried again 30 minutes later...again nothing. I thought maybe i fried the battery so I borrowed my sisters Bold 9700 battery (this is her first BB and she got it a day earlier than me and it still works, I wonder if she'll notice if I switch my red Curve out for her new Bold
) and tried using that on my phone...nothing, phone was dead. Last ditch effort was to maybe reflash the firmware but my PC wouldn't even see the device (makes sense with no power).
What really sucks is that I can't just walk into WalMart and get an exchange. Because I used their website I have to go through their 3rd party (letstalk.com) partner and go through their RMA process. Between shipping and them "inspecting" the phone on arrival I am looking at a 1.5/2 week turn around. Now what am I going to show off during the family Christmas parties? - 12-18-2009, 08:27 AM #2
Try leaving the battery out and connecting to wall charger then plugging wall charger into outlet. Wait for the message to appear on screen "no battery found" (or something to that effect?) then re-inserting battery and see what happens.

Can you see a sold red light when you plug the wall charger into the phone?

Tried that, didn't help.
Nope no activity at all. No lights, sounds, or feedback of any type.
I already have the phone in FedEx's hands on the way back for a swap. Hopefully the wait will seem shorter than the time it actually takes to get a new one. - 12-18-2009, 09:13 AM #5

You'll love it when you get it next time. Could it be that this was no blackberry but a some walmart phone? JK!
