Question Getting BIS working on FIDO

I purchased a used 9700 from BELL (unlocked).
I put the SIM card in not knowing about having to have the IMEI released from BELL.
I had the original owner call up BELL and release it.
I went to fido.blackberry.com and tried to change my device but it said it couldn't.
I called FIDO and they say the PIN still not released.
The original owner said BELL released it when he updated his device.

I dunno what else to do to get this working.
I couldn't find a way to contact RIM regarding this.

Is there any next steps someone can help me with?

put your working fido sim in the phone
let pull service and see what happens.

from there head to the fido site and register it via pin and imei

ive had issues where the SIM has to be in for a few minutes so the network sees it

fido.blackberry.com/
That shouldn't be too hard to find with a google search. If the original owner didn't still remove the IMEI/PIN, then you've gotten ripped off, or it was a stolen device. You can call bell and have them run a check on the IMEI number to make sure it wasn't blacklisted/marked as lost/stolen.

The site won't work unless you are registered with Fido. It never worked for me.
Call Fido and tell them straight that your BB is not getting any email and ask them to activate your BB plan. If they ask what model you are using just tell them it's a Bold/Torch/Curve, without giving much details, and straight to the point.

yes i know that site but it only has the option to detect new device. doesnt let you add pin or imei.

i will check with bell again.

I called them 4 times. They couldn't help me. All they kept saying was its a device problem and they don't support unlocked phones. They kept on getting me to register Host Routing Table and battery pulls. They used a dummy IMEI.

What about trying to get ahold of a better rep? Going to the store might actually do better since they can't trick you.

I tried four different technical support reps at Fido.

The person who sold it to me willingly came and tried his SIM card on it and there was something wrong with the phone that wouldn't let it register to BIS.

He was kind enough to refund my money back (A lot of people would never do that).

Thanks for your replies guys!

Off to find another berry
