    Exclamation Fubar'd my 9700

    Hey guys

so the other day i accidentally chose the wrong restore file onto my 9700 i chose one from an 8530. So the restore failed and it wouldnt let me log back into my phone. When i tried to re-restore my auto-backup from plugging it in. it made me do a reset (not full wipe) and reinstall the OS. So finally got the phone back to functional but then half my apps were missing. System apps. Like memo pad (all my login info for various work pcs) and half the other ones. And then my 3rd party apps also.

Anyway i tried to restore an older back up back to the phone still no luck. and when i did that i get one database couldnt be restored : messages.

So i flipped over to my windows xp (im using the Mac DM) and tried to restore again thinking the windows dm was more thorough. but still nothing.

I need to know how to reinstall all the system apps and get my phone back to fully functional.

Do i just need to do a full wipe and restore an OS? also i wanted to update to 6.0 but i want to get all this fixed first.

    Thanks Twan

Best bet would be wipe the device using BBSAK

And load the OS on your device using BBSAK..

I agree with Nawty, OS6 is still buggy, but does run pretty well.

I would recommend using your XP machine for all this.

Download 5.0.0.938 and install it on your computer, and also install BBSAK.

Uninstall all other 9700 OSs and then wipe via bbsak to 507 and clean install .938 via load OS option in BBSAK.

From there you can go into dm, hit add applications and add OS add on apps. All 3rd party one will have to be re downloaded.

If that all goes well, restore your contacts and stuff via your latest back up.

    BlackBerry Swiss Army Knife

BBSaK isnt a mode, its an all in one utility known as BlackBerry Swiss Army Knife.

Hit their website up for the download.

Its a really easy and simple GUI and works awesome!

BBSAK is used to wipe, load, add and remove components of the blackberry device software, it also enables you to backup and restore third party apps.
