Do I need a new battery?

I've had my bold for about 6 months or so and it keeps acting up! Most of the time it will go through the regular process of battery drainage. It will go to yellow low battery sign then to the red then to "battery too low for radio use". but recently it's been shutting off before its even in the yellow! with the error message "battery drained, shutting off handheld." No warning! then when I turn it in the battery is completley drained when it had 1 1/2 bars prior to shutting off.. weird! is this normal?

I'd say upgrade to the latest firmware

Updating/Upgrading to the latest OS could solve the battery issue. Also, I should ask if have you installed any apps lately which are running in the Background ?

Press and hold the BB menu Button and make sure that only five or six apps are running ( BBM, Phone, Browser, Messages, Home Screen and maybe VVM ).

whenever you wish to close an application, press the BB menu button and scroll to Exit/Close to make sure that the app is closed properly

Maybe you need a new bettery, if you decide to replace other battery, buy it on dx,because it's cost less than ebay.
