Unhappy completely frozen

I ve been using my phone all day! was working great, now suddenly it slows right down, freezes up, i do a battery pull, restart and it loads, gets to my homescreen, but nothing works, just the part at the top where the time shows, its highlighted blue cause thats where the curser thing is.

I hooked it up to my computer, i get the time that shows up when its connected to a power source. asked if its usb, sysnc, or charge. but cant select anything.

I was able to run the desktop manageer and do a back up, as well look through my device applications and delete anything im not currently using.

I do not know what else to do.

I would really like to just completly wipe the device clean. Ive had it for 14months now and never done that. Im sure its junked up with alot of useless stuff. I dont know if doing a complete wipe clean would fix my problem at this point though.

please help me!!!

I have new messages and cant read them!!

If your Desktop Manager is still working when plugged in, I would reload the OS on there and see what happens. Or go back one to a previous OS and see if it makes a difference.

Connect your blackberry to desktop manager without the battery and when an error message pops up, click Update... And then when it gets to the process of "reconnecting to jvm" connect the battery back in and let it complete the rest of the process. Once that's done, do a selective backup of only the important stuff such as address book, memos, browser bookmarks, calendar/tasks (if applicable) and options. That way, you'll rule out any incompatibilities or bad settings.
