Anyone who is spenidng 650 on a blackberry who want a solid device no contract wise and love open source i advice go to the N900 the community is just as friendly as Blackberry and we all work together. I love my BB thats why i have the bold 9700 and will get the N900 also.
However, with the N900, you cannot use ATT's 3G network and you have no MMS capability. Kind of stupid for a flagship phone with a really good 5 Mpixel Carl Zeiss camera.

And I can tell you that my agency uses the full range of bberry security features. I manage IT programs in my agency and I know the full range of requirements of our telecommunications network. An iPhone could not begin to address them.

I will turn your argument on you - name one thing that the iPhone does that the bberry cannot do. Give me one industry where the iPhone is used as the communication device of choice, and I will argue that it is not in an industry or corporation where security and real time communications are necessary.
No it doesnt deflect anything, claiming just because your agency uses it its an important feature is a fallacy in itself. Government agencies arent the ONLY users of Blackberry. Again, you want to pigeon-hole what you believe as corporate users into your own idea of it.

Your one point is only used by a small percentage of users, so its moot to a LARGE group of the user base. Near 50% of RIM's user base is CONSUMER, and no i wont provide links google it yourself, its a well-known fact. So if not ALL "enterprise" users use security, then logically the MAJORITY (more than 50%) of RIM's user base doesnt use the security features.

Name one thing? Properly formatted HTML email, no truncation of email, a good web browser with pinch zoom, exchange support without a BES server, etc etc etc. Game, set, match

LOL ok so any industry where security is not important to use BB and uses an iphone is not a real industry right? Wow youre a freakin trip.

I would have to agree the bold is a better phone form factor wise. To me the rubber buttons the 9700 and the size make it feel cheaper and almost like I am buying a curve.
