BT to 3.5mm and still use speakerphone?
So my friends have BT to FM modulators that give them speakerphone ability however I have found FM Modulators to have crappy sound quality compared to the AUX in built into my car.
When I plug in the AUX in everything sounds great and I can still use my speaker function on the phone to talk into it while the caller comes through my stereo.
I would love to do away with the headphone connector portion and was thinking I might buy a BT to 3.5mm adapter like this Bluetooth 3.5mm Stereo Audio Adapter Receiver 4 Mobile Phone iPod BT Transmitter | eBay and then plug that into the AUX jack so my phone can sync via BT and avoid the need to plug in.
Has anyone tried this? Are you still able to use the speakerphone function of your phone (so it can be in a cradle while you talk) while it's synced to a BT adapter like this or does the phone assume the BT connection has a mic and force that? - 06-26-2012, 04:46 AM #2
Would likely work. You'll likely have to fiddle with the Bluetooth profiles a bit to make sure "headset" and "handsfree" aren't being picked up by the dongle, but it should work.
Gotta tell you, though, it's more cumbersome, and while the sound quality is considerably better than FM, it's still not as good as a direct connection. It also gives you one more device to keep charged.
