Default bold 9700 unlocked

hi i have a bold 9700 and it is unlocked but orig from rogers. i am using it on fido and i have called them many times in the past 2 days to fix the problem i am having. i stopped using the phone for a few months as i was using an acer liquid phone. now i am back using the bb bold for various reasons and all i seem to be having is problems. the phone works when i am at work no problem but when i am at home all it does is search for a network. fido has tried adding an imei number to my account settings and we reset the phone from my end. this still has not fixed my service loss i have been getting. what settings should i have on the phone to stop this from happening? one of the reasons i had started to use this phone again was the fact that for some reason i had waken up in the am to look at my acer phone and it had told me that i had no service. so i took out the battery and the sim card and put it back in the phone and still i got no service. i put the sim card in the bb and i got the same thing. so i put the sim card into a non smartphone celly that i got and it worked fine now why would this be? someone please shed some helping light here for me cause this it some wacked out **bleep**. thanks if u have a bb and got info plz add me to bbm someone please help me. i also dont have any warrenty on the phone

maybe fido has coverage of their older 2G frequency (thats what the older phones used) at your house BUT not with the newer frequencies (3G,HSPA,4g)

the coverage for the 2G area is HUGE so it makes sense.

so i should change my coverage setting on the phone itself to 2g? i can choose 2g or 3g. i have it set on 2 and 3g right now. i am unsure on wheather or not i shouldhave it on wifi prefered or mobile network prefered. i also have a new antenna for the phone coming as well. i think this might be the reason cause lack of use for bout 3 months of the phone maybe something happened to it idk for sure. it just sucks how i get service at work and i get home and i get nothing at all. the service lacks elsewhere in the city too iv noticed when i am on the bus. could be the phone itself but fido has ty blackberrys thats why i decided to unlock my bold and use it.

wifi or mobile network preferred is probably for data. choose wifi for now.

test it and see if it works

when i connect to wifi i am able to get my bbm messageing. i am going to be bringing it into a store in the next week or so once i get the new antenna for the phone and i am going to get them to install the antenna and have a once over on the phone itself and the inside of the phone and see if they see any problems inside the phone. if its not the antenna i have no clue what it could be if it is not that and its not the fido network as they say that they cant guarentee the service will work cause the phone is a non fido phone. but i have had the phone working properly on the fido network and have not had problems like this. started out with my acer liquid e androidphone when this problem happened last tuesday and have been going on since then. i went to bed with service and i woke up with out any service at all. so i took the battery and the sim card out and still got nothing. so i put the sim card in my bb and got the same thing and no service. so i put the sim card in a non smartphone and it worked perfectly fine. i also went to fido a day or 2 later and i got a new sim card which this still did not fix my issue.

Well, since nothing worked to fix it, you can't do anything else to fix it. You'll need a new berry.

before you buy a new berry; try putting your SIM card in to your friends blackberry (at your house), because you said it also didn't work in your other smartphone. so maybe both your phones are messed up or it is your network.

if it still doesn't work then you might as well buy a new phone.

Maybe it's the issue with the SIM?

the phone works when he is at work and it also works at home when he puts his SIM into his older 2G phone so the SIM shouldn't be the problem.

I'm still betting that Fido's 3G/HSPA/4G network doesn't reach/cover the OP's home and that the 2G/EVDO network does.

Default Unlocked Blackberry bold 9700

Try to test things to find out where is the problem...
Try using the SIM in another unlocked Blackberry device or other mobile phone..
Try to use a SIM card from the original carrier or from other carriers with it also..
