Default Best OS Version So Far for 9700?

We've had a handful of 5.0 releases for our 9700s.

    The major ones are:

.442 (released by handful of Middle East carriers)
    .423 (released by Bell)
    .405 (released by AT&T)
    .344 (released by Telus/Vodafone)
    .330 (released by T-Mobile)

From trying to keep a close eye on the 9700 forum, it would appear that the most popular OS to date is .423. Seem to see the most positive comments on this OS. No particular science about this, just seems that I read most people being happy with that OS.

    Let's vote on it.

Which is the best OS for the 9700 so far? Cast your vote and let everyone know what you think!

I'm running .442 by Smar-Tone Vodafone Hong Kong... which last time I checked was in the Far East

Battery life is about the same as .423 which isn't brilliant compared to older builds, but the radio is much stronger now. The lag from 'wake up' in and out of message apps has gone in .442 and browsing speeds do seem a tad faster over 3G.

All my apps run fine, and I've not experienced any freezes, crashes or random reboots. So far, so good...

    My vote goes to .442

I'm loving 442 so far. Battery life is better and the phone doesn't seem to lag like I had on 423. Also, knock on wood, I have not had one dropped call.

.351, released by Mobily Saudi Arabia and a few others I believe. It was the OS my 9700 shipped with, never had any problems with it.

I upgraded from .330 to .442. Battery life is not as good as .330 (330 was fantastic) but 3G speeds on 330 were awful (442 speeds are GREATLY improved). I also saw various random reboots and some times when there were big lags in responsiveness. Too soon to tell if .442 solves all these issues, but so far I'm much happier with .442 even though the battery life isn't as good.

I've not had one single issue with Att's .405 so I have just stuck with it. And awesome battery life too.

This is an important post. Based on your experience with virtually every OS so far, your vote for .442 is meaningful.

Any more specifics as to why .442 is better than the rest?

.442 is starting to pull away from the pack and take a commanding lead in the voting.

OK if previous OS's are important, then...

    .321 to .344 to .351 to .378 to .400 to .405 to .421 to .423 to .442 to .423/.451 hybrid to .442/.451 hybrid to .442/.461 hybrid, and back to .442

...and my vote still goes to .442

My real answer may not be quite meaningful

First of all, for whatever reason (for better), I never had sms issue from the beginning. Not sure what I did, but sms issue like other have mentioned never happened to me.

Basically, I like stock .330 better than .344 becasue .330 has option to change your picture thumbnail viewing. Later builds, no luck. However, I need certain East Asian languages and so .344 was no brainer for me. Performancewise, I see no other measurable differences between the two.

.423 provides input method for one of the East Asian language so I had no hesitation to upgrade. Again, I do not see any major measurable improvement in any other department.

Now comes .442, I originally did not want to upgrade, however, I had issues with my phone. The issues I believe caused by me messing around too much with the phone

Anyhow, after the update, all is normal again. I set my sms/mms, e-mail and bbm on separate messages boxes. The older OSs, sometime tend to hesitate when I try to close opened message (happened only sms/mms and e-mail messages boxes). Also, thumbnail viewing opens instantly comparing to older OSs. These slight improvements with my 9700 are consistent since day one I updated. So, I feel that the improvement at least on my case is worthy for an update

Other than what I mentioned above, everything else feels the same.

This would be more meaningful if you shared with us your reasoning as to specifically why you are voting for .442 above all the others in perhaps a similar way to the post that our friend doxa sub750T has just detailed.
