BB 9700 problems
Hi all, i got a question. I can get a blackberry that have a turn on problem.
If you connect it to a pc you will hear a sound that it will be recognized by the pc but it will not pop up in blackberry desktop messenger.
And if you put the battery in it, the red light turns on and after a while turning off and then on again.
Will it help if i wipe this device and then reload a OS? or is it just dead?
Thanks for all your help! - 01-06-2011, 06:05 AM #2
Its possible and worth a shot. BBSAK and wipe everything, resend service books and try.
Never know until you find out and there is a thread "How to recover a dead berry" that's definitely worth a look.

Bought the phone and waiting till i get it. After that i will try to use BBSAK.
Maybe someone else got an idea? - 01-06-2011, 12:00 PM #4
I personally wouldn't buy a dead Berry except for maybe parts. That's just me. Like Evan said, give it a shot, you may be lucky. The problem you described can be the result of several things but is the classic moisture exposure symptoms. Hope not.

Well i bought it already so can't do anything about it. The seller told he bought this phone from another guy in working order but there was some contacts left of the previous owner. He did a reset and the phone won't boot up anymore.
So i'll give it a shot and hoping i'm lucky =) - 01-06-2011, 01:11 PM #6
If the seller's description is correct and derived from full disclosure than you've probably made a wise purchase, assuming you got a good purchase price, as that sounds software related which would be solvable by a simple wipe and reload.

Well the first owner sold it to the second owner, he wanted to remove the remaining contacts from the bb of the first owner so he did a reset
Well i'll see what i get and try to load an OS on it. If it's working with BBSAK then i have a bargain indeed
But i'll just wait and see..

Well i got the phone now and borrowed a datacable from a friend. But now if i'm connecting it to my pc/mac the BB isn't being recognized?! And no there is nothing wrong with the usb ports because evertyhing else works.
Is it maybe because it's a cheap/non original BB datacable? *sigh - 01-14-2011, 03:22 PM

Go into Device Manager on your computer under Advanced System Properties, delete the USB hardware in the list, all of it, and restart the computer. Then plug the blackberry in and run BBSAK. Load up the OS. Phantom USB hardware are the worst cases of not being able to use or detect a device.
