Default ATT Blackberry can't change network.

I'm using a Blackberry Bold 9700, previously locked to ATT. It is now unlocked.
Im in Toronto, Canada, and It has me roaming on the BELL network. With my old berry I was able to go into Mobile Network Settings, and select MANUAL, and choose ROGERS, the clearly superior network.

I don't have the option to change to manual.
It doesn't have NETWORK SELECTION MODE, or NETWORK MODE.
    Help.

Things have changed, Rogers is no longer the superior, but has fallen behind in the times. Bells network has actually over taken theirs, and Rogers has even been found guilty of their false network claims
‘Misleading’ wireless ads put Rogers in hot water - The Globe and Mail

They had the GSM/HSPA+ monopoly until a year ago. And Bell and Telus have come together to trump them.
Also Bell and ATT have the tightest roaming agreement, so if you are still using the ATT sim card Bell will be the first choice.

Rogers is fail. They even lied to my brother who uses them saying that using an old memory card that works still in a new phone will damage it.

Bell, Telus and every other carrier never lied to their subscribers to swingle them into getting a new memory card that was actually reburbished that they sold for $60.

I may be wrong, corrections are fine. Rogers may burn in my microwave for their lies, false advertising and claims.

Default Does anyone have a real answer?

OK, so beyond bashing Rogers, does anyone have a real answer to this problem?

I'm experiencing the same thing. Over the past two weeks I've been roaming in Japan, China and Hong Kong. Previously I could go into Mobile Network Settings and manually choose which network I wanted to roam on. Now that option is completely missing. So, you're stuck with whatever network they choose for you.

The problem is it's usually the worst of the choices. In Japan you're stuck with Softbank when their data connection is constantly dropping and speeds suck. I want to choose DoCoMo manually. Similarly in China you're stuck with China Unicom when China Mobile has a better network.

Does anyone have a solution to this?

Asking AT&T that might provide some insight. If they're preventing you from changing networks, why not get it unlocked and use a prepaid sim card instead?
