Arabic input for Bold 9700 Onyx

just wanted to make sure all BOLD 9700 onyx owners can find it by posting it here

installation steps
1- open BlackBerry Desktop Manager
2- click Application Loader
3- click Start under Add / Remove Applications
4- Browse
5- Select Arabic.alx
6- then continue for installation without selecting anything
7- wait for your device to restart
7- press ALT + Enter or goto language selector under: Settings -> Options -> Language and Text input , under Inout Language you will see العربية select it and VOILA !

Ya ya 9700 too ....i received a msg telling me tht the app is not compatible with the device

hmm, it seems you have to install multilingual ROM that can have Arabic

what OS version do you have ? and pressing ALT + Enter what does it show on your device ?

mine is t-mobile bought off ebay and worked, but i did lots of tries in the middle till i reached this solution maybe installing other ROMs fixed it for me?

i can read/write arabic natively on system wide

maybe because i have installed multiple language ROM from Rogers it worked with me ? not sure! but its working just fine now!

goto your menu -> settings ->options -> about
what does the third line, 5th and 6th line shows ?

I wonder will it work on the Tour 9630 (os 4.7)?

UPDATE: arabic lang input didnt work on the Tour, but i can change the language for the menus in arabic. Any ideas

well not sure, you could ask in the Tour section

is your ROM multilingual on the Tour ? see if you can download one from BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop and Device Software Download Sites and get it working

you can try other carriers mo ella Zain Kuwait btw

I downloaded a multilingual os for the Tour, but when I can to install it, the list of langs were english, european, chinese, etc. but NO arabic. I went to the Tour section but I couldnt find a solution. Help?

you install the update then install the arabic.alx it will work no need to show

lots of them on ebay, just google it

also, I have downloaded and installed os 5.0 for the tour, but DM doesn't seem to detect it, it just lists the 4.7 version. Ideas?

UPDATE: i see the 5.0 version in DM but it can't install cuz it says "Only active Blackberry subscribers can install this update", what gives? the 5.0 is already installed locally on my pc.

^^ delete the vendo.xml file thats in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader.. then use the apploader to update your phone in that same folder.

but still I didn't found the arabic language in my application list

When I add the arabic to the application list
it says ''This application is not compatible with your device and cannot be loaded''

it work for me, bur when i open any arabic web it dosnt work, its just work as typing.

and i have another prplem. when i get arabic sms i cant read it too it show Q mark ???????

My BB can read arabic bt can write..cuz I bought it from indonesia

I already download zip file n tried to install but I got message that is nt compitble with my device

so what I have to do ??

If we use only arabic.alx...so what for all that files at zip file how can it be installed?

I really appricate your help in advance
