Last time I checked, there were no known viruses for BlackBerry smartphones.

There is not a single virus in the wild for any of the major smartphone platforms. Antivirus software (if it even exists) is merely a cash grab with zero benefit. Any sort of malware that you can get on a mobile device will require some sort of user action. So your best defence is to research and don't just grant permissions willy-nilly.

...Any sort of malware you can get on anything requires some sort of user action.
But on Android, that "required user action" can be as little as downloading an app: Researchers create “clickjack rootkit” for Android that hijacks apps | Ars Technica
Android might be open, but that openness comes with a cost.
No mobile OS compares to BlackBerry for security.

As the original code of BlackberryOS no shared, I think it's safe enough.

The malicious apps you are referring to can effect a bb in the same way, even though that isn't the op's question.

Op, there is no anti-virus software needed for your BB.

I don't think Norton makes av software for BlackBerry, and even if they did it would probably be an awful bloated piece of garbage like their PC av software.
Not to knock anyone that uses Norton, but if you use Norton you should reconsider your choice.
