9700 warranty questions
My girlfriend has a 9700 with ATT. This phone is not been right and when she goes where she bought it, she is being told she needs to go thru insurance. This does not seem right on a 3 month old phone. Does this phone hold a 1 year manufactures warranty like my tour on vzw?
Another thing that struck me strange was she went to get a new battery, I asked to see it. It was a battery in a plastic sleeve like when you get a brand new phone. There was no retail packaging at all and they banged her 50 bucks. She says the building says ATT but does ATT have those crappy dealers like the Verizon zoom thing? Cause if they do and this guy is screwing her there's gonna be a major problem if I go to chat with this guy.. It wont be pretty...
I feel she is being screwed and before I go in yelling, I want to know whats the deal if you are with ATT and have a bad phone.
The problems. Tons of dropped calls with full signal showing.
sms, mms, bbm all have taken up to 50 minutes to reach the phone.
Phone hardly rings, but will display voice mail notifications for messages that are at least a half to an hour old..
She is running the latest ATT official OS because I installed it myself..
So basically I would like to know if ATT honors and exchanges under warranty.
Does ATT have a zoom equivalent that vzw has.
Should a brand new battery that costs 50 bucks come in a sleeve or a retail package?
Thank you guys - 02-25-2010, 07:45 PM #2
If the phone was purchased through a ATT authorized dealer, the 9700 has a 1 year warranty. Just call 611 from the phone

Ok we r going to call 611 Does att use authorized dealers like Verizon does aka zoom? The fact that she was sold a batt in a sleeve and not a package does not seem right..

611 won't deal with the battery issue, but Garz is right, call them. There is a 1 year warranty. For 50 bucks I would have insisted on a package. Who's to say they aren't giving her something from a used BlackBerry.
