Default 9700 and the microSD mystery!

I had a Bold from April, loved it. I am a contractor, so it suffered a premature demise that started with the trackball and ended with the white screen of death. I may still mess around with it and load a new OS etc...but I moved onto a 9700...I really love it. When I opened the sealed box last week, I was pleased to see the folks at RIM included a 2GB microSD card.

Alas, I decided to buy my wife a 9700 today for a pre-xmas gift. when I opened her sealed 9700 box, no card included!

No worries either way, because Staples around the corner has an 8GB on sale for $17.99, but I thought it was interesting..

    Any ideas from the boards?

a lot of them are already pre installed in the phone, check under the battery door, but yeah exactly it wouldnt bother me too much as I already have a 16GB card and like you said an 8GB card can be had for less then $20

and why not buy yourself an 8GB or 16GB card and give the wife the 2GB card, she will probably never know

The 2gb was nice for them to add, but I immediately swapped it out for the 4gb I bought from MicroCenter for less than $10.

I'd examine the box and contents carefully for the MicroSD card. I've had 2 9700s come through here. The first had the 2GB card jammed in so that it was difficult to remove. The second the card wasn't fully inserted and fell out into the battery compartment when I removed the battery cover.

Sorry you got gypped out of the 2GB card. I'd offer one of the ones I received, seeing as I replaced them with bigger cards... but both have vanished as those tiny things are wont to do.

I would check the card slot...mine was already installed but I swapped it out for a larger card that I had gotten for my last BB.

I had a hard time removing my 2gb card, it was jammed in so friggen hard I used a pair of small surgical type pliers to grab it and pull and wiggle at the same time to get it out. Needless to say I bought a new 8gb card and pushed it in and out several times making sure the phone had recognized the new card and it works very smoothly thank God. Some of those knuckleheads at RIM must have taken a very long lunch break and weren't paying much attention when back on the job. Man that **** pisses me off big time.
