Such a pity RIM didn't go along with the same idea when they introduced the "7" range. We don't need ultra slim phones that get reported lost when you turn them sideways, just a nice big juicy battery please.

The 9700 is a good phone. I wouldn't call it the best these days, but it sure is dependable for biz.

I have to agree the 9700 had fantastic battery life. My old battery was lasting less than a day so I bought a replacement and now I'm back to 2-3 days

There was a poll on this subject a couple of months ago, and I think the masses went with the 83xx or 99xx series. Since I haven't experienced ALL of the BlackBerry devices made, it's hard for me to say, however I can say that the best BlackBerry phone I've ever used is my current Bold 9930......hands down

Its not the BEST phone, but its an extremely reliable one and a perfect backup if you have one lying around. I love my 9700

    Agree, same for 9780 too.

To be frank, it's not the best for internet browsing, but for everything else, it's a solid product. Pair it up with a playbook and it's even better.

I'm holding off getting a BB7 phone (despite the touchscreen) because I can't face the reduction in battery life.

I love my 9700 but my wife has a 9810 and wow there is a huge difference in using the phone. I would love to upgrade to the 9900 but bb10 is just around the corner so I am holding off on the upgrade.

Still using my 9700 as my everyday phone, it does everything I need and while I'd like a new 9900, the fixed focus camera put me off. I love the camera on my 9700 and use it quite often. Paired up with my Playbook, they make an awesome combo.
