8900 vs 9700 ?
Is the 9700 a worthwhile upgrade from the 8900, which i have had for a year. I realize there are other threads with the same question but they go back 3 months and i was looking for updated for 2010 info, Thanks.

Depends on how much you have to pay to upgrade and if you want to extend your contract for it. You can get the same thing done with either device. The 9700 is a bit faster and has slightly better specs but I would say hold off until some if really a lot better than the 8900. The curve's keyboard is way better. I don't think it's worth extending your contract or paying 300 + dollars for it. But that's me.
Who cares which device is better? Isn't all that matters is that it's the best one for you? - 03-02-2010, 12:59 PM #3
It all depends on what you want? Are you happy with the 8900, are there things about it that bother you that the 9700 will resolve? The main advantage that the 9700 has over the 8900 is that it's 3G. Sure, it also has the trackpad, I don't find that to me a drastic advantage, it's just different.
What's important to you?

if 3G and trackpad are important to you go for it.

You have 30 days to try it out so why not. The 9700 is a lot quicker than the 8900 in terms of hardware. So yes go for it.

I just thought about it. If you see yourself as a blackberry user for a long time then go for the 9700. I forgot that some of the updates RIM is planning as far as the browser will most likely not be compatible with the 8900.

I would definitely switch to the 9700. I just upgraded from a 8900 about 2 weeks ago & I have absolutely no regrets. It's much faster & more updated.
