2nd bold 9700, broken since day 1.
I'm out of the 30 day return policy for no contract flex pay phones, but I was just ignoring the problems, since it was my second bold already.. It's beginning to really get on my nerves how the lock and end buttons are creeking and wont work sometimes.. I've never dropped my phone. Will T-Mobile replace this POS phone or am i stuck with it forever?

Can I have a little cheese with that WINE???
If you purchased the phone from T-Mobile and IF there is an issue with the phone, then they will replace it with a refurbished phone... don't expect a new one because it will more than likely not happen. - 05-01-2010, 10:12 AM #3
They will most likely do a refurb swap at a service center. I was uneasy about refurbs at first but strangely enough, they seem better inspected than new units...

You think you're going to get another new device... LMAO... again, can I get some Cheese with that.... if you think there is a problem, T-Mobile will replace it with a refurbished device... in other words, they will replace it with one that has been fixed... that is what the warranty will give you... if you think you can do better, than call TMO and demand a new one and see how far that gets you... I love the cheese you are servicing with this Wine.

I already replaced one without any problems, for a brand new one, it was not refurbished... And since it is my second time having problems, I'm hoping they will do the same or at least refund me for it... At this point I'm most likely switching to an android device.

Yeah just call TMobile. There is a huge misconception with refurbished phone and I'd bet my house that a refurbished phone will have less problems than a regular phone. Think about it, the last person to touch a new phone is an automated production line whereas the last person to touch a refurbished unit is a certified Blackberry technician.
I have seen instances of the top buttons creaking horribly, and I would definitely be peeved, too. If anyone wants to know what this sounds like take the top-back of your phone and push it in towards the lock or standby button when you press it...sounds atrocious.

Refurb fobia. Really at least for AT&T, the inspection process is better for refurbs than out of the box new devices especially compared to early on. From what I see here in the forums, TMO is no different.

Exactly shansmi.
The only reason I buy new at first is so I have to 12 months compared to 3.

I don't know, I have read quite a few people on here complain about refurb phones.

There will always be complaints but for the majority, they are happier.

A refurb phone will look just like a new phone. All outer parts are replaced. I recently had to have my 8900 replaced under warranty with a refurb and not only does it look like a brand new phone, it works better overall than the phone ever did new out of the box.

As far as warranty exchanges go with T-mobile, this is the policy. Any troubleshooting that determines the phone needs replacement will only replace with a new phone is if you are under buyers remorse. After that is with refurb units which seem to be alright. Now a little known fact is that for the 3rd exchange within 90 days for the same issue would qualify you for a "alternate" exchange, and would be exchanged with the refurb alternate option of the day, which at this time is the Dash 3g, if you had a bold previously.
