Why does there need to be a 9650 theme forum? The 9630/ and 9650 will use the same themes. Doesn't make any sense. You make it so theme developers have to post in two forums. You guys did the same for the Storms

Agreed. Because when we post in multiple forums people flame us for spamming...

exactly. not to mention we have to monitor two threads for the same theme.

I third that. It is more counterproductive than efficient.

Maybe some 9630 theme makers (myself included) remove the wifi icon or stick it somewhere out of the way since it will never be used on the Tour.

And, assuming your stats are correct, the 3 of you are rockin Storms.

    Why do you care?

Obviously they are also theme developers, and they are absolutely right... Im sure 9650 users will use the 9700 and 9630 forums for themes just like we 9700/9630 users do now...

I have 6 devices but i build for all devices. Just because i have a storm doesnt mean i cant build a theme for another model...

Great, then you understand my earlier point regarding the WiFi icon.

No, ill tell you the only reason there is a thread. Because this is a new device. But personally i feel it should be tacked on with the 9630.

I think a better idea would be to have a single forum for 8900/9630/9650/9700 themes, . Then theme developers could post links for wifi and non wifi all in one post. Actually, I have a Tour, and I've used tons of 8900/9700 themes and I've never seen a wifi icon because I don't have wifi, so a single OTA link for all 4 devices would work, right? That would make it so much easier on the developers I would think.

Not to mention that newbies aren't aware that they are interchangeable and are missing out on a lot of great themes. This solution would cure that as well.

The problem is when I made a 9630 theme, I just stuck the WiFi icon anywhere. It didn't matter because it wouldn't show up. Now that same theme on my 9650, the WiFi icon covers up the signal bar.

Ahh, I see. So then, my original idea would work though. One forum for 8900/9630/9650/9700 with separate OTA's for WiFi and non WiFi. Then developers would only have to monitor one thread per theme instead of four.

Doesn't matter what device I use. I make themes for BB's. And you are honestly saying you would make a separate build just to move the wifi icon? You know it doesn't show on a 9630, right? Just wondering why you would go through the extra trouble

EDIT: And it's always good practice to go ahead and align the wifi icon since the 9700/8900 are compatible

You guys are missing the point. I think the 8900/9700/96XX should be separate. But keep 96XX devices together. Like I said, said thing for the 2 Storms. It's stupid to have 2 forums for essentially the same device.

I'm not saying I'd make an extra build just for WiFi, but I know when I'd do a Tour theme I'd move it out of the way or delete it. Now that theme won't look right on a 9650.

I see your point with the 8900/9700. The only theme's I've made I had just the Tour in mind. Never thought of the others.

Both. I did "clear out" the wifi icon with Gimp once, but most of the time I'd just stick it out of the way.

yeah - not a bad idea. our "original initial premise" prior to some of these newer devices existing was that the average user looks for their device model.... so having sub forums for each device model name is best for the user - they know what's in that forum will always work for them.

but you're right, in the case now where one theme will work on multiple devices, it does increase clutter.

open to suggestions and changing things up... just has to make sense for the end user browsing the forums (and hopefully make sense for devs posting as well!)

keep em coming, will think on this. want to do a bit of forum cleaning up the next little bit, so timing on discussing this is good.

Yep I like the one stop shop... All compatible themes for such devices in one section and followed by the next set of compatible ones, example Storms...
