I updated my zencalendar theme, but that darn thing is slow!

The theme builder "Berrygood" sent me an email announcing this great new version that simulates OS 6 icons. Whatever. So I "upgrade".

Welcome to the world of slowness!

At first, I thought I Had done something else wrong during the day.. "surely a simple theme wouldn't slow down a phone!", I thought.

    Hmmm.

Any way to convert it back to the old zencalendar.

    OR!

Is there another simple theme that keeps the calendar list displayed on the home page?

    Thanks
    Kelton

Yes themes can slow phones to a crawl, and cause other issues.

Best place to check is the 9650 theme section.

    +1 for this

Some animated themes will take up resources.

Also if a theme isnt done right it cane bog a berry down as well.

I am running the 3.5 version of this theme. Berrygood came out with an "OS6" like release a couple of months ago. It locked up my browser. I contacted the maker and they immediately sent me a link to an older version and I'm still using it. I actually prefer the larger OS5 icons on the 3.5. When the opportunity to upgrade was sent out the other day I ignored it...glad I did.

Just drop them an email, explain the issue, and they'll get you back to an older, reliable, version. I hope they make a GOOD version for OS6.

I hate transitions, and they can complicate things.

My goto themes for functionality and performance are as follows:

    Freebies: almost anything from Foppa.
    Paid: Appleberry and Appleberry Dark

Think I'm gonna wait until 6.0 is fully released and create sone themes of my own again.
If a theme breaks my phone, I'd rather kick myself than hate someone on the message board. Lol!

You could also get deToday, which puts your calendar on the homescreen of any theme.
I prefer hidden today themes myself, and I'm sure there's a couple free ones floating around in the theme section. I personally always put a hidden today in, it's ridiculously easy to do.
