Default Without service

Okay, so I've been using my blackberry bold via wifi for facebook and other sorts like that. Kind of like an ipod, I want to know if they have anyways to charge me for anything like that. I can still connect to the mobile network for I had gotten a new phone, but sometimes I let my kids use it for stuff like netflix (I got the iPhone 4s). But I can't send texts or make calls either. And if it doesn't charge, would there be any type of app that I could send texts or make calls via wifi from. Kind of like textnow on the ipod touch. I would very much appreciate if you could help me out. By the way, my provider is Verizon Wireless.

There is no charge unless the device is active on an account. If it is not active, there is no charge to use WiFi.

You cannot, however, make phone calls or send SMS without the device being active.
