Wireless signal drops when plugged in
I don't get great verizon reception indoors at work. But when I plug in my phone to the wall charger, the signal actually gets worse, to the point where I may have 1 or 2 signal bars with the phone sitting on the desk, but it loses signal completely when plugged in. Anyone else experience this? I wish I could get an external antenna for this thing! (that didn't cost a mint). I don't recall the Tour acting like this.

I never saw that problem with my 9650. Have you tried a different wall charger? Do you have the same problem if you charge your 9650 via a USB port on your computer? Have you tried a different wall charger? I suspect the one you are using is defective. It's also possible the charging circuitry in your 9650 is defective, but that isn't easily fixable.

I'll try a different wall charger Monday. I can't charge it by USB at work, and at home the signal is fine. We do have 2 of them at work, and I don't remember which I had used before. Thanks!

After about a half an hour plugged in mine does the same (Verizon 9650.) If I plug it in when I lay down, there's no signal. I unplug it, and within 10 seconds it comes back. Other 'Berries i've had have never done this, so maybe it's specific to the 9650?

I had a similar experience using the wall charger near my desktop PC. I happened to have a boombox radio that I listen to while I work sometimes. I noticed that when I dropped my BB into the charge pod that was connected to the wall charger I would get a lot of noise through the boom box speakers. The signal strength would also seem to fluctuate. It was still workable so my driving factor was the noise on my radio station. I ended up using a USB cable from the PC to the charge pod and all the noise was gone and signal strength came back full.
I'm not an electrical engineer so I'm only guessing that when plugged into the wall charger that there is some attenuation or RF energy going in the wrong direction to cause the noise and loss of signal.
Your mileage may vary but using the USB charge instead of the wall charger might be worth trying.Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.
