What should I do?
so i am now eligible for my early upgrade. It expires at the end of March, but was really hoping for this phone to come out before then. Now we are hearing that it won't even be announced until april, and we probably wont see it until May or June. Should I hold out as long as my ugrade will allow, or should I just go and get the Tour 1

Hold out if you can but the Tour1 is still a great phone. I use mine daily to run my business with 1300 customers and it is a workhorse.

I know what I wouldn't do: "Settle" for the half-baked,POS Tour 9630.

I finally caved and ordered a Curve 8530 today. My trackball is not working at all on my 8330 and I have zero faith that this phone will be out anytime soon. I'm sick of checking the internet multiple times a day and not finding out anything new or positive. My new phone will be here by Tuesday and this will give Sprint/RIM/whoever time to work out the bugs. Maybe next year when I have another upgrade option there will be an even better phone available.

i say hold off and if it isn't released by the end of march, you'll still have a solid device with the 9630.

A trackball is pretty easily repaired, and as recent threads have pointed out, VZW will do it for you now.
Instead of logging in to check, go to Google and set up an alert email for any news on the device and impending release or changes. I've received a dozen recent news releases, and it's a lot better than sifting through the same gumbo daily. You manage the information, don't let it manage you.

Rusty- If you like your Storm enough to wait until the last minute to make a decision, wait and see what, if any, new information about this phone is released. I am not sure how the early upgrades work, but if you still have the 30 day trial period, the longer you postpone making a decision, the more time you buy. If you still do get the 30 days on the phone, you get your upgrade at the end of March, and you have 30 days to get you through April. (Does the 30 day period to return apply to early upgrades?)

i've never heard of upgrades expiring. i've had an upgrade eligibility since fall last year and i'm definitely still eligible. I've also used other people's upgrades in the past when they were wellll overdue for an upgrade, definitely past 4 months so i've never had an experience like that.

They. Stated the date clearly in the email they sent me notifying me of the upgrade. I wasn't are that it did expire until now. I guess its a condition of the early upgrade. I think I might hold of at least a couple more weeks to see what new information comes out.
Switching to AT&T is not an option. I had an iPhone before this and where I live their service is terrible.
So I am just gonna see if I can hold out a little longer. knowing my luck the tour 2 will be out the day after my 30 days expires.

So does that mean with the early upgrade you aren't eligible for the return the phone within 30 days?
I didn't know that the early upgrades expired. I've been waiting to use my upgrade since October, and it is still available.Last edited by Iwant9650; 02-23-2010 at 09:53 PM.
