Also, are you in an area with good signal?
Is your wi-fi on? It should be on to save your battery.

Every time you reboot the battery will drain while the device takes its 5 minutes or so to reboot.

Almost always an app running that you do not recognize. Push and hold the BB bitton to check apps running in the background. If an app loaded in past few days maybe delete and reinstall.

i only have 6 apps running in the background and those are 6 that i can never close. home, messages, etc. i really dont think this is a normal problem. i'm going to let the battery drain completely and then recharge. if anyone has a better idea, please let me know

If it's not the broswer, messages, BBM, phone app, or homescreen it can most certainly be closed.

they are those six... home, messages, phone, bbm, browser, and youmail. its impossible to get rid of them.
now theres a new problem: at the upper right, that arrow that tells you when you when you're sending out/receiving info keeps flickering nonstop. i know thats not normal. please don't tell me i have my facebook or twitter constantly reloading. i've checked all that. i promise i dont have any setting that is out of ordinary. so if you've had this problem before and not caused by the things i just listed, let me know.

What you are describing is typical whenever a member rejoins a group. Everyone in the group has battery drain and frequent hourglassing. I know because I am in some groups and experience that problem.
