While there are lots of posts comparing different OS6 versions I haven't seen anything comparing 5.0.0.975 to this latest OS release. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether the upgrade is worthwhile now? Is the battery life equal to or better than 975? Is it as stable? Is it as peppy?

My primary concern is battery life, stability, and lag. I'm not so concerned about the browsing experience, apps, ringtones, etc.

My last comment is that I work long hours and travel a lot for business and don't really have time to try it out and downgrade if I don't like it. That process is a huge time sink.

I appreciate your advice.

Thanks.
This is the best os i've had on my 9650. i got my 9650 the week they were released by verizon. i would give it a shot and go from there. as long as you have a copy of the old os you can reinstall it later. i would try it for a week before uninstalling it so that you get used to the new os. i think you will like it better. i wouldn't try to shrink it, before or after installtion, if i were you. try it as is and see how everything works. i seem to have more problems when i shrink or use bbsak to backup than i do when i just load as is and then reinstall apps that apploader doesn't put back. i did have to put my passwords back in all of my emails to verify and re-register my paid apps but it is the smoothest it's been since new.

This update did nothing for my 9650 except lock me out of my device email. What a joke.

Nothing has changed as far as I can tell. Same ole sluggish BlackBerry.

Ya, 9930 won't change that either. Ha.

You know how to get email back after the update, John? There's another thread with a bunch of us not able to activate email via device or BIS.

Anyone have a solution to the no email issue besides a factory reset?

Yeah I had the same issue happen. I called Verizon and a tech fixed it over the phone with me. The update makes your phone disappear from the BIS server for email. My cell still had a functional browser and apps, but no email. The tech had to delete my blackberry id (not the app world one) create a new one and update a couple simple things like roaming and reactivating.

Just call Verizon and they'll fix it for you!

Thank you. I'll do this asap. This is a pain. Wish BlackBerry just worked.

Sorry you're having trouble. I just had to re-enter the passwords and my email accounts were there.

I found a solution to the email on the vzw support forum that worked for me.

mobile.blackberry.com communicate, email. It detected my bold as a new device and moved my email. go figure

I mentioned having to activate my phone as a new device. Not sure why some folks seem to have dificulty with this. When you start the email setup wizard on the phone, it should give you a button for that. Personally, since I posted the VZW link, along with the exe for both versions at the top of this forum, the last thing I would do is upgrade through Desktop anyway. Let's end discussion on this thread, and move it all to:

Latest Official OS 9650 6.0.0.719 VZW (MultiLanguage & AllLanguage)
