verizon blackberry 9650 not working on simplemobile
Hi guys im new to the community. my problem is that i have an unlocked verizon 9650 with a simple mobile sim card in it, but i dont get any internet access. i have a BB data plan with simple mobile, and dont understand why i get "edge" instead of "EDGE" on the corner.
my texting works. i just cant seem to get any internet access. iv searched the forums this whole day (about 6 hours) and still cant figure out what im missing. Ive tried adding tmobile, and some generic service books but that didnt work either. pleaseeeee helppp meee
im only stressed because i really need emails on my phone for work. i can care less about browsing the web.
phone details:
-verizon (unlocked) bold 9650
-Brand New
Thanks for hearing me out - 07-14-2012, 11:24 AM

I am not an expert in these matters, but there are some threads here on getting Simple Mobile working with unlocked Verizon phones. I am not saying that any of the methods described will work and heck, you could even brick your phone, but it still might be worth a shot. Just try searching "Simple Mobile service books" and you will find a few threads. Here is one:
http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...-books-423537/
And here is a really old one regarding T-Mobile, but the idea is the same, I think, maybe?
HowTo:Get All Features (Browser, MMS) Working on T-Mobile w/Unlocked Storm 95xx
I seem to remember some people using the OperMini browser on T-Mobile to get internet access as well, so that might be an alternative work-around?
Let us know how it works out and if not, maybe we can help you un-brick your phone or try something else, but I think, maybe, it is related to needing to send the service books.

This might sound crazy, but... have you called your carrier with regards to this issue?

Unlocked Blackberry and BIS
Defiantly sounds like a service book issue.
Try this,
Go to: Options > Host routing Table
Press the "Menu" button and then "Register now". - 07-17-2012, 10:19 PM

ive also tried using my simple mobile sim in an unlocked tmobile curve 8900 and i was able to register successfully and have data working on the 8900. i hate the fact that this unlocked 9650 verizon bold is giving me these problems. i cant get Data workin on this phone at all. iv tried services books/ changing OS's tcp/ip settings as well. ive gone through host routing table and clicked "register now" but get nothing..
ive come to the conclusion that its the verizon unlocked 9650 that is giving me the problem because my simple mobile sim works flawless on a tmo curve 8900.
is there anyone out there that was able to successfully use an unlocked verizon bb 9650 on simplemobile? if so please sharreeee
iv searched through the 9650 forums section and tried every method. nothing helps me register to the bb network. "edge" will not change to "EDGE" which would be giving me data access. please help and ty for the replies. much appreciated.
