Default Syncing w Outlook creates duplicate Entries

Oh for Pete's sake. Ever since I updated my BB Desktop Manager to the current version, troubles. First it wouldn't sync my contacts with Outlook and I got that solved. Now syncing causes duplicate calendar entries on my BB Bold 9650.

I tried to sync one way to the device from the computer (Outlook having the correct info) and still it creates duplicates. The duplicates aren't showing in Outlook so now I'm stuck. Arghghgghhh! Makes you never want to upgrade anything!

No question that the new DM update suuuucks. After having troubles similar to both of yours ^^^, I found various CB threads confirming that the update was nothing but problems -- unfortunately, I didn't check out the forums before updating. I finally have my Outlook - 9650 syncing correctly (I think, fingers crossed), but there were some very irritating times along the way.

This kind of thing also always makes me think that there HAVE to be people at RIM who use Outlook + DM, and who updated to DM 7 and are having the same nightmares we are. Don't people get fired for putting out total crap updates like this that cause so many headaches? Or maybe after letting 5000 people go at RIM already, there's nobody left to point at and fire.

Same nightmares here. Mine were worse actually. My 9650 was freezing so much it was unusable. So I had to backup and then wipe it. To be all fresh and new, I upgraded my DM and the OS on the phone. The restore took forever.

For the sync problem, I had to delete all of my device contacts manually, setup the DM to grab the correct folders from my outlook and then let it update. Hardly user friendly.

    Thumbs up

I figured it out using help on the blackberry desktop software. I needed to change my "Default Services" (Options>Device>Advanced Systems Settings>Default Services.)
There is help there for the other problems mentioned on this threat under "Troubleshooting:Synchonization"

Well, this still isn't fixed for me and I've tried a few things, mind you. WTH? Am I ever going to be able to do a clean sync through BB DM and Outlook to my device ever again? Sooooo frustrated. At this point I cannot even overwrite my calendar entries from my PC to my device. I keep getting duplicate entries in the device. I have looked at CICALs, resent service books, rebooted the device, checked that my default email accounts are the same, typed in MOVE in the email settings; NOTHING works.

I really hate to have to wipe the bloody Blackberry and start over. Seriously Blackberry, I am due for a new phone in a few days and I am starting to doubt I will be getting that 9930. I have to be able to see my calendar on the PC and phone. Have to. Can't keep adding something to the phone or PC only to find weeks later that it didn't sync.

PS: I have never upgraded my OS to 6. I've read that many people said it just caused more problems and every upgrade causes the usual grief of having to reinstall everything THIS SUCKS.

I did this already and it didn't help. Booooooo. Also read the section you're referring to and didn't get any additional answers. I actually thought my problems would be aided by upgrading the DM. not.

After a little research in the forums, I decided to wipe my contacts:

Per AEDan1977: Open Contacts app, Hit Menu Key, Choose Options and then while at the main options menu for contacts type WIPE. This deletes all the contacts on your phone. It won't appear on the screen that you are typing anything but it should respond once you enter the last letter WIPE. Note: This also works for the calendar, by doing the same thing but in the Calendar app.

I had done this previously for the calendar as well.

You better make sure you back up your BB before doing this.

Once I wiped the contacts, they were able to sync with my Outlook again. Jeez. I wish I knew how this all got frigged up in the first place.
