| | Sounds quit working
9650 on Verizon Wireless, 5.0.0.975. I downloaded a .wmv in an email from a friend this morning, and the video would not play, said that the video contained errors. Now, I get 0 sounds from my phone. I have done 2 battery pulls since then, and nothing works. The phone will vibrate on Vibrate Only, but no other profiles seem to make the phone emit any sounds. With headphones plugged in, I can play ringtones, etc.
I remember this happening to my wife on her 8330 Curve, and I was able to fix it, but I cannot seem to find the answer on how to do this. Short of wiping the phone, and reloading the OS, is there a way to fix this?

It appears that I did not utilize Google well enough. I seem to have found a fix for this. KB20612-Ring tones, alerts, and media will not play on a BlackBerry Curve 8330
I did this, and it works so far. Very frustrating, causing me to almost wipe the phone and load a different OS. That will be the last time that I download anything other than a picture or document to my phone.

You are still using 975? While I enjoyed that OS, I was anxious to switch to OS6. I prefer the media player on OS6, too. Have you tried any of the varieties of OS6 available? You might like them! Of course, they are not without their faults, but overall, I enjoy OS6 a lot more than OS5.

I thought about it, but after using OS 6 on my Torch, and then OS 7 on my 9930, I found that I just prefer OS 5 for some reason. I hate the panels, with a passion. At least in 7 you can turn them off. I would need to create a theme without the panels before even loading 6 on my 9650.
I rarely use my phone for anything media related. Maybe a YouTube video here or there, but that is about it.

| You do realize that there are about 250-300 themes for OS6 that do NOT use panels, right? And about half of them are free. You should give some of them a try. If you need any recommendations, I'm a theme collector. So let me know if you ever decide to go that route. I'd be glad to help. |

Oh I know about the themes. I am very particular about what theme I use, and have been using one that I created. Anything other than that probably won't work, as it is setup exactly how I need it.
