Default Something is draining my battery

My battery on my year old 9650 from Verizon normally lasts a day and a half or more between charges. I downloaded Drive Safe.ly the other day and Bubble Bash 2 yesterday afternoon. Yesterday my battery was down to almost zero at 6 p.m. I charged it fully overnight. Today my battery was completely drained by 1 p.m. with minimal use of my phone. Could one of these apps be causing this?

If you didn't have this issue before my bets are on Drive Safe.ly app causing the issue.

Make sure drivesafe.ly is closed. That app continued to run in the background on my 9800. You should check your settings.

My exact situation. The Drive Safe.ly app doesn't seem to want to close. Cool app but deleted it and things are back to normal.

Also ensure the GPS Activated is NOT on. There is a warning about it draining your battery.

In drive safely advance settings u need to check the box "exit when minimize".

Hi I'm new to crackberry. I was having this same issue. I also as well took off gps and I don't have any additionals app other than what was pre-installed (fb and twitter). I am running V6.0.0.415 on a bold 9650 and its a new phone. Could anyone help me please. I barely can get through a day without charging my phone. If It has a full charge starting at 7am by 12 noon I need to charge it. I don't use it constantly either. Please help. Thanks

Do you have Facebook and Twitter running in the background? How often do you have these apps updating? If you increase the amount of time between refreshes or manually update, rather than leave them running in the background, your battery will last longer.

For instance, you can open Twitter and then choose Options.

Then choose how often tweets refresh in the background.

Or uncheck, so it does not refresh in the background at all.

How is your signal? If you are in an area with poor signal, and the device is constantly searching for a signal, the battery will drain quickly.

If none of the troubleshooting helps, I would suggest returning the device to your carrier for an exchange, since you mentioned that it is new. That is not normal for the battery to drain so quickly.

Normal or not, mine's doing it at just over a year old.

Sprint can't find anything wrong with it. They've replaced the battery 3 times. I've uninstalled EVERYTHING but the stock OS. No dice. It will randomly go from 90% charge to 0 and turn off in about 10 seconds. (It locks up when it does this)

Or it'll ask to reboot after an app update and during the reboot process (which it starts at full charge) it goes to 0 battery. Can't find an app that's doing it (happened with them all removed). Sprint finally gave up.

My phone used to end the day with 60% charge routinely. Now it rarely lasts through the day, and if it has one of its freeze/reboot episodes it'll be dead randomly (sometimes just an hour off the charger). Since battery is what really set it appart from my husband's iPhone and Android phone (yes he has both) when I'm ready for an upgrade I'm going to find it really hard to choose to stay with Blackberry. Sad, but I need a phone that's reliable, and his ancient iPhone is way more reliable than my 1 year old Blackberry.
