Here's what I did after doing some semi-exhaustive searching of this forum and on Google.
Remove the battery cover.
Take an X-Acto knife or razor blade and work it under and around the edges of the "Bold" cover with the cutout for the lens in it. Be patient and gentle...then peel off the rectangular piece of plastic.
What is scratched is a plastic cover with AR coating on it. The lens is the smaller diameter piece underneath it. The plastic cover is held in place with adhesive.
Take your knife/blade, work it around the edge of the plastic cover, then lift it off.
Replace the rectangular "Bold" plastic cover and you're done. You may need to apply some additional adhesive, but if you're careful and don't bend the plastic cover and are not violent removing it in the first place, there should be enough adhesive remaining for it to stick with no additional glue required.
My lens cover was in really bad shape and it resulted in hazy, slightly out of focus pictures. Now, pics are crystal clear. You'll probably need to use a rocket blower or some similar sort of device to keep the dust out of the lens recess, but it will look and perform a whole lot better.Alltel Pearl 8130 ---> Verizon Storm 9530 ---> Verizon Bold 9650Thanked by:elliejosie (05-15-2012)

I had the same problem - all my pictures were hazy and unusable. I bought a small tube of "Displex - display polish" from Amazon - about $6 without shipping. Using a qtip I buffed the camera lens out and it fixed the problem.
Beats the heck out of taking the case apart.

Scratched? Mine looked scratched but it was just a film from what I would imagine to be pocket gunk.
I took a Clicky pen ( clicked so the pen part is not out )
A tshirt or rag preferably smooth.
I licked the lense then put the shirt over it and used the pen clicked off and swirled around the lens area for a little bit. The lens looks brand new!
I noticed when I was taking pics they were blurry but now they are friggen crystal clear.

My lens has the same issue. I'll have to give these ideas a try. Thanks!

Agree with trying the free method first, worked for me before. Too bad the little plastic film over the camera lens scratches easier than the screen.
