Says "mute" but not muted... grumble

This one is driving me crazy. I have a Bold 9650 for work. It is my primary corporate-issued phone.

Sometimes, somebody says, "Turn your phone on MUTE!!!!" and I am doing something stupid like ordering a sandwich and 40 people are on a call. Strangely, this has happened 3 times now, and I look down, and the BlackBerry says "Muted."

It is very embarrassing.

All of these times, I was getting fast food, and when I get in my car, the Mercedes grabs the BlackBerry and automatically goes through there. One time I had been in the car and then switched to handset and it was muted but it wasn't ACTUALLY muted.

This most recent time, the phone was bluetoothed to the Merc but the phone said Mute, but then people heard me talking. So I am suspecting it may have something to do with bluetooth sessions... just seeing if this is a known issue with bluetooth or if you've heard of something like this.

I've had similar issues, all related to Bluetooth. In particular, it seems to be a problem when I switch from the Parrot bt in my SUV to my Plantronix 9xx headset. But it's also happened on bt in my SUV. It seems to be inconsistent and I haven't found a common denominator.

Have a work 9650 and noticed similar issues. After some testing, I noted the following:

1) On call via BT (Plantronics), go to Mute (Call is Muted)
2) Switch to speaker (Call is Muted)
3) Switch back to BT (Call in NOT Muted, even though it indicates muted.)
4) Turn Mute Off then On (Call is muted again)

1) On call via Speaker, go to Mute (Call is Muted)
2) Go to BT, (Call NOT Muted)
3) Turn Mute Off then On (Call is muted again)

This issue is occurring when going from a muted non-BT source to the BT.

This issue doesn't occur on my iPhones
