Default Poor battery life after upgrade from os5 to os6

Yesterday, I upgraded my phone to os6. Before the upgrade, I would get 1 to 2 days with moderate use. Yesterday, the battery drained after about 6 hours with little use. Also, when I went to bed it had about 40%, in the morning it was dead! What can I do to improve the battery life?

Revert back to OS 5 seems like the most obvious solution. Either that, or find a different version of 6 that has better battery life.

There are many factors that contribute to battery life. Go to Mobile Network Options and make sure Network Technology is set to 1XEV. Lower the brightness of your screen to the lowest acceptable level. Turn off GPS if you're not using it. Go to the Blackberry web site and there is a section on tips to max your battery life.

It can take a few days for your device and battery to settle in after an OS update. Also, you might have an app that is not as compatible with OS6 as is was with OS5.

I have NO issues with battery life on OS6 and feel the benefits (Universal Search, Browser, etc.) out-weigh the "snappier" OS5.

I'm using OS6.0.0.706 and battery life is about 15 hours with "normal" use. This last update has my 9650 running as good or better than my last OS5 (.1030), but I have learned even though phones might be the same, they all run different depending on the user and what he/she has on their phone

Thanks for all the feedback! I made some of the suggested changes, so we'll see how it goes. Also, my PB seems to have re-booted while on the charger and come off airplane mode. So, I may have been seeing some unwanted bluetooth activity.

Good catch on the bluetooth...another source of battery drain. I'm a fairly heavy user and use a 1700mAh battery to get me through the day. Good luck.

Does switching data services off reduce battery drain, also reg the GPS symbol on the home screen can does it mean gps is on. I am on BB os 6. Previously I have used a 8900 the battery was excellent.
