Default out of nowhere my blackberry went nuts... could use some help

Like the title says, out of nowhere today my blackberry started getting all screwy on me.
I was typing a text and started experiencing delays when I typed. It kept happening, so I took out the battery for a minute and restarted it.

After I did that it started back up properly, but now the keypad doesn't work anymore. The scroll pad kind of works... I can scroll left and right, but if I click it on one of the email/text/bbm/etc icons, nothing happens.

So all I can do now is go to my "homepage"? (is that what it's called?), and nothing more. If I recieve a call I can't press the button to accept it.

Have no idea what caused this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
THanks!

Did you drop the phone, or did it get any moisture or water damage?

Definitely sounds like a possibility of moisture damage.

No moisture or water damage.
I dropped the phone a few months ago and the screen did crack a bit. Have a few screwed up spots on the screen now, but it's been like this for months and never affected my phone before.

Moisture can happen from just being in your pocket and your leg moisture between the phone and you.

Pull the battery out and check the moisture strip. Sounds like damage from some type of internal moisture

Even without the "moisture strip" showing moisture, the device can have moisture damage on the keypad from things like being in a steamy bathroom, sweaty pocket, wet hands, wet hair, high humidity environment, etc.

Heck, how about getting your hand on some distilled water and wash you phone really good(Remember to remove you battery FIRST) and pop it into a bucket of white rice. But that is based on my general mobile phone knowledge so you better take it with a grain of salt. You better of getting your phone repaired by your dealer/ carrier though

Wow! Intentionally putting several hundred dollars worth of electronics in water? I am speechless.

Wow, I didn't know the phone has to be droped in liquid to activate the moisture strip, what good is that, I would know if I droped it in a bucket of water

I think the moisture strip is more for warranty purposes than anything else.

I don't suggest following youknwwho's advice about the distilled water. Not sure if that is a joke or not, but I would never do that.

I believe that distilled water is used when you spill something corrosive like soda. It's a last resort and it doesn't apply for this situation.

Yeah it's the last resort and the only time I saw my local re-seller did that was to a 8830 drop into a puddle at a construction site. It no joke they did that but I wouldn't do it to my phone if the moisture was cause by sweat or some thing of that nature
