Officially saying goodbye to the Bold.
Once February 10th rolls around, I'll officially be leaving my BlackBerry for the iPhone. It's nothing personal, and I'll probably still pop in here from time to time to talk (mainly the Ramblers!).
The reasons why I'm leaving:
1. The browser is pathetic even on 6, sometimes I just put off finding information out until I can use my computer.
2. The lack of any alternate housings for the phone. Other phones have had white/red from day one, but the white one for the 9650 has been sold out for months (who knows if it was ever in stock).
3. That ******* clock spinning every time I try to do anything, and that's with no extra apps running, and with no memory leak/anything.
4. The fact that I hate RIM and all of their efficient, but disgusting business tactics.
5. That people always say my phone sounds muffled, despite updating the towers/having great service.
Even though all these reasons don't amount to any real "trouble", it's just that the iPhone is so appealing that it's finally on Verizon. - 02-05-2011, 02:56 PM #2

Everything you have listed must be an isolated issue. Ive never had any of those issues. Good luck with the I4.
So very true! I'm a firm believer that other platforms are very lacking in the heart and soul of what a phone is..first and foremost a communications device..!as no one is better poised as far as mobile "pure communications" as RIM is this decade to leed with no rival...argue that all you want....it is what it is!

Good luck with the I-Toy, I hope you have researched that device thourghly and know what you are doing. Yes, it is a device with lots of glitz and glitter; however, comments that I hear indicate that the are lots more problems with that device than what you listed as your reasons for leaving BB. At the EOD, it is your personal decsion and I hope for your sake that you have made a good one. Enjoy your new device.

Good luck with it. Alot of people as expected are jumping on the ios bandwagon. No phone is perfect and I just weigh my needs in the balance that is all the pluses and minuses of every device. I need a real kb as my top priority for instance and the messaging/email the bold is so good at over rules the not so hot browsing experience. My calls are crisp and clear on both ends. Rim as a company matters not to me, but anyway enjoy. cya and drop in to the rambler thread sometime and let us know how it is.

I'm jumping on the Iphone bandwagon to. I have nothing but praise for my bold, it has been good for me and I have no complaints. I just want to try something different and of course I'm keeping my bold around.

I'm not a fan of the "goodbye" threads and didn't plan on posting, but I placed my pre-order for the VZW iPhone and should have it on Monday.
I've had BBs for as long as I can remember---I fondly remember the thumb-wheel, which I always liked---but at this time and for my specific needs the iPhone offers a few apps that are imperative for me. In particular, it works with DropCam, which is a small and inexpensive security video-camera/"nanny-cam" that I have set-up so I can keep an eye on my disabled husband when I'm out of the house. I can watch what's happening at home live via an iPhone, but it's not usable with BB (because of the Web browser, per DropCam).
That's for now, if and when the BB offers similar abilities (along with a much better browser), I'll probably be back. I know that I'll keep reading here to stay updated on what BBs are rolling out. I think I'll always be a "CB" at heart.
In the meantime, my trusty BB Bold 9650 will go back in its box and be kept in a safe place. I'm going to really miss the BB experience, but my needs have changed.Go home; have a few drinks; go to sleep; get up tomorrow; do it all again, only better. House, MD - 02-05-2011, 05:03 PM #10
Officially no one gives a flying f**k, and your gonna stop in from time to time, oh wow thanks for gracing us with your presence sire, try sticking to the iShyt forums I'm sure you can woo them with your mystical magician powers...your the reason android and iphone users still come back attempting to bash blackberry get a life, and seriously this thread is worst then watching ochocinco twitter about lebrons "the decision"...and every reason you thought blackberry isn't good is well not true, never expierienced anything you've listed, what it means is you can't handle a blackberry, you really do need a toy..so I'm pretty sure in 4 months well see you back on here talking about how you switched from iFone back to blackberry...
