Need help to unlock Bold 9650
i have a verizon wireless BB Bold 9650 and will soon be traveling to germany. ive already phoned verizon to have my phone unlocked, but was told since my phone already would work on germany's network, and being i have already the international phone plan from verizon, that i would not need to use another sim card, so not to unlock my phone.
however, even with said international plan, the $$ is much higher (.99/minute), than with a pay as you go plan/sim card from germany. (T-mobile, Vodafone, etc).
so it seems i would be better served by unlocking my phone, and using a german sim card, but how can i unlock it myself?
Thanks!

Call Verizon again and insist they unlock the phone or go to the unlocking blackberries forum here on CB and find a free unlock site. Yes get a SIM card overseas like from Vodafone, way cheaper.

I've got the same phone as yours that I purchased from Verizon a bit over two years ago because my whole family in the States is on Verizon and I was coming to Saudi Arabia for a couple years. I got it for Verizon's "global" feature but quickly realized once I got here that they were raping me every time I made even local Saudi calls, so I purchased the unlock code from unlocktycoon.com for $1.89. The process worked like a champ. Then I called Verizon's international customer service number and told them I wanted my service changed from internationsl back to my old US service. The snotty customer service lady told me if I did that I wouldn't be able to talk to them again from over here until I returned to the States. I told her to do it anyway and, click, she was gone. Then I went to the local Saudi network provider and got one of their pre-paid sim cards that is MUCH cheaper to make calls on (plus about $20US/month for your normal BlackBerry e-mail, internet and SMS service stuff). And it works wherever I travel, even changing planes in Germany where you're going. Just be aware that you will now have a local phone number for whatever country whose sim card you get. You will still have your US phone number that you can check for messages by calling your US number from your new sim card, but if folks want to call you they'll need to call your new foreign phone number. When you get off the plane back in the US, set your phone to search for CDMA service instead of GSM and voila, you're back on Verizon with your US number. Hope this helps.

For those who unlock a Verizon Blackberry device, you don't need to contact Verizon after you use the unlock code.
Just dial ##000000 and change the phone number and everything will work.
