Default Im about to skip this d@mn thing across a lake!

Ok I have a 9650 From verizon. I have checked and checked and it says I have the current
version.

I want to know why I keep having this D@mn hourglass of doom!
My application memory free is 236MB free
My free memory is:199637706

I have Alt LGLG and clear log
i have emptied web browser,
cleared call log.
removed extra web broswers.
I have double soft reboot and
double hard reboot
and still that same damn hourglass

And I think it is slowing down my BB Bridge with my playbook

HELP!!

Sometimes a complete wipe and reload of the OS will do wonders.

My 9650 was acting funny too. Random stutters and the spinning clock a little more than normal.

I wiped the slate clean and started over with a like-new device that is running smooth as silk.

I'm in the process of re-downloading my apps.

After some time of use, it almost seems like the phone's memory gets fragmented. I don't know if that is possible with a BB but that is what it "feels" like.

If you have tried everything else, starting from scratch might be just the solution that you're looking for.

Default Same thing is happening to me

I havent gotten any new apps, alt LGLG does nothing, but every few seconds i get the hour glass. It makes it almost impossible to get anything done. Its making my bold run at the speed of a snail too.

Try enabling the engineering screens (search the forums for a guide) and then going to "Java VM Engineering Screens" and "Processes" and there you can see the processes (programs) running on your phone along with their respective CPU usage.and determine which one is slowing it down.

It happens to me rarely (but on some occasions) when the bb_elt cod for some reason hogs the CPU a lot until I just select it and "Kill" the process, thus solving the problem.

What OS version are you running btw?

It may also be a battery reaching end-of-lifecycle, which tends to begin freezing and causing reliability issues. I've also seen SD card corruption cause problems.

If by "the current version" you mean you're running 524, try a different OS. John has a good point, how many apps do you have running?

I run 6.0.0.587, have about a dozen apps and have 277 MB free. The only time I see the hourglass is when I download apps from BB Beta Zone.

You must have more apps loaded with only 230MB free. Try upgrading/downgrading to something else.

try using bbsak and backing up your info and wiping the device, once it is wiped connect it to desktop manager and load the os again from scratch. sometimes you need a fresh start.

OP, before you wipe and reload 524, you may want to read this thread: Leaked OS 6.0.0.524 for the BlackBerry Bold 9650 Fixes and Findings

Once you get past all the bull "downloading now" posts you may find that 524 isn't your best choice. I know quite a few of us dumped 524 the day 600 was released.

Use DM to backup your data, then check out the links in my signature. I've had the best results with 6.0.0.587. I have a working link to the installer file, and the other link will give you a ste-by-step how-to on installing it.

You could also try MTS Mobility's 6.0.0.522. If you can't find a link to it and want it, let me know and I can put it up.

My Computer > C: > Program Files > Common Files > Research In Motion

Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file
