I think my 9650 is defective. Who do I contact?
I have had my bold 9650 (sprint) for a couple months now and it always reboots by itself when it roams. It's pretty much guaranteed to happen every single time. I roam when I'm in certain buildings at school. I've updated my os a couple times hoping it would fix itself but that is not the case because it still does it.
So my question is, do I contact sprint about this or do I contact RIM about this? Is there a chance I cam still get a new one even though it's been over a month for sprints trade in period?

You won't know unless you try. I would call Sprint and let them know the problems you've had. Better yet, if you can get it to a store and show them the issues...I've always had better luck in the Corporate stores although I am on ATT. My daughter is on Sprint and always has luck in the corporate stores, not a licensed retailer

Plus there is a one year Manufacturer warranty. You are good.

Yes, but even with the 1 year mfg warranty, your carrier may only replace your device with a CLN or refurbished device. I'm on Verizon, and that's what they do.
.
Unless I believe if you have full equipment coverage, they might replace it for a new device with a deductible. But, I'm not a 100% sure on this.
.
As suggested above, call your carrier or go to a corporate store and see what they are willing to do for you
good luck.

a refurb is not a bad deal. They are checked out very well. Over 30 days it will be a refur device. You need to go into a corporate store and have a tech person look at it. Or call Sprint from a landline and have tech support troubleshoot the phone with you. But be sure you are on a different phone when calling them. They will want to troublshoot the device. It has to duplicate the problem for them to send you a replacement. And sometimes like going to a mechanic, it doesn't always duplicate. Good luck.

thanks. I called tech support and they told me to
1) turn wireless network to "home network"
2) reboot phone
3) turn wireless network back to "automatic"
silly if you ask me but even the lady i was talking to was doubtful of this technique. they put a ticket on account and I'm bringing it in tomorrow.
My problem is that I don't think I can duplicate the problem in-store cause it has good coverage there I'm sure. Unless they know some magic to force roam it :/ - 01-15-2011, 10:56 PM

Just for documentation purposes.
I finally brought it in to the repair center. They took my phone for an hour and they tried duplicating the problem by putting it into the "tank" as they call it. The tank is a box which blocks cell phone signals.
It didn't work because it blocked all signals completely and they couldn't get it to roam.
Because they couldn't duplicate the problem, they just ordered me a new phone and charged me a $35 restocking fee. $35 for a fresh new phone. I'll take it. - 01-16-2011, 08:20 PM #8
