Help me!!!
Hello:
I have a blackberry 9650 for verizon, and recently did the software upgrade for version # 6.
Since doing that many changes have occured on my handset, which more or less i'm getting used to.
However, this is what started happening this morning. Whenever i want to dial a phone #, the handset doesn't allow me to do it, unless i hit the send button, and pull up my call history/log and then @ the top of the page is and open field that reads " find contact or dial a number" where i need to enter the phone number i'm wanting to dial.
Is this something new with the upgrade or is this some kind of glitch? Seems like alot to go through to make a phone call.
Any help or suggestions are really appreciated....

Making a call in the new 6.0 is a PIA. Hit the green send button, then dial the number or name of the contact, hit send again. Extra steps, I think it has something to do with the search feature of 6.0. I'm NOT liking that. Also, get into your settings and deselect everything except CONTACTS under the search. That way it will only look for your contacts when you're dialing, not EVERYTHING named "smith" or "jones," like pics, facebook contacts, etc..

Between speed dial and voice commands, I never punch in a number to dial.

If you haven't yet tried Speed Dial, here's how to get it. Open OPTIONS/DISPLAY/HOME SCREEN PREFERENCES. Under Launch by Typing, select UNIVERSAL SEARCH, then SAVE. Close back to the Home Screen, then press and hold a key. Click YES when asked to set Speed Dial.
I have not yet found a way to direct dial a phone number from the Home Screen. - 02-13-2011, 12:03 AM #5

You can dial from the home screen by pressing the number keys (they show up under the search bar as prince stated) and then hit the grren send button if you have your home screen preferences set to "Universal Search" in Options, but not if you it set to "Application Shortcuts".
