Default help - email not working on new blackberry

First, I should explain that I am not tech savvy at all so if I don't provide enough info or am missing something basic, please let me know.

I had an older BB Tour. My husband had a new BB Bold 9650 that he was no longer using. He didn't remember the password for it, so I entered the incorrect password 10 times, which wiped the BB. I then used BB Desktop Manager and set up the Bold for me to use. I have the phone, text and internet working but my email accounts are not working. My husband had a corporate email on it when he used it. I only use personal email accounts. My personal email icons are there and but I cannot send or receive emails. When I tried to send a test email, I got the red x with the following message "message status: transaction error - failure at service".

I have no idea what to do to get my email to work. I went in and validated my aol account with the password. I cannot remember the password for my vzw.blackberry email address but I think I could get it to send it to me if I could receive emails.

Anyone know what I should do to fix it?

Do you actually have a data account enabled on this phone through your carrier?

Is this device registered with your BIS account? You may need to send service books. It appears you have VZW, so you need to get it set up here: https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw
