hangs on reboot - now what?

This is a crazy coincidence.

I was just reading a post, today, about someone declaring that their phone hangs and won't go any further after the latest install of dropbox. I thought, "glad that had never happened to me".

Fine.

So, I go purchase a BGT Today theme for my 9650. Guess what? The darn thing seems to be bricked! Yep. It hangs as it tries to reboot!

I've tried to reboot twice now (battery pull) and now that little white line across the bottom stops totally at about two thirds the way across.

So how does one deal with this?

Try to boot on safe mode and remove the theme.

Thanks... I'll try that.

However, after like 5 minutes stuck at that one spot, it eventually booted up. This reaction is a little worrisome, so I'll do the safemode after messing with it as is.

I also have the Bold 9650 on OS5. Stopping about two thirds of the way is normal. That is the point where your BB is reloading your phones programs. Mine hangs there from 3-5 minutes and then it will complete the boot up.
