Default Google Sync issues when switching to GSM?

Hi all--first time poster. Hopefully I provide enough details.

A little background: I have my Gmail forwarded to my Blackberry and my Google Calendar syncs automatically. I have only one email address and one calendar. I have had absolutely no problems at all with any of the syncing in the past (which seems like an impressive feat given all the threads in this forum!).

I am in Europe for the holidays. When I got off the plane, I switched to GSM, and am using a SIM card (not the Sprint roaming SIM that came with the phone). I have used this card regularly in the past without any problems.

Over the past few days, I have been receiving 2 copies of every email (one in my Gmail inbox and one in the "message" inbox). Even more annoying, my Google calendar has been seemingly randomly duplicating the first day of various multi-day appointments, including 149 instances of an appointment in March.

I have tried changing my "messages" inbox to include only SMS and MMS, but this hasn't changed anything. I've also deleted and reloaded my gmail account multiple times. Is there something else I should be deleting? I'm at a loss here since there were absolutely no problems until about 48 hours ago.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi,

hmm...your problem sounds like something with the BIS of the carrier you're using your Blackberry with in Europe.....do you sync your Google Calendar via BIS? If so, that might be the issue somehow (I've also had strange things happen to my phone when trying to register it on a foreign BIS account and having it on Sprint at home at the same time)
