Default Fed up with 9650

Anyone ever consider "downgrading" their 9650 to the Curve 3g??? I've heard some not so great things about the new Bold and considering switching to the Curve. Good or bad idea? I've always had curve and loved them. I miss my 8330. Such a solid phone that was. Just wonder if the 3g is as good as the older models...help!

I hate the 8530 when I had one back in the day..

To much plastic, and hate the screen resolution.

I agree with the ancient plastic feeling models, but I never had any issues with the phone itself. I'm on my 3rd 9650. Seems like the newer the model, the more issues you'll have. Just tempted to downgrade to the 3g Curve so I can have an issue free phone!

2 of my Bolds actually stopped turning on. After a full charge they just wouldn't boot up. The one I have now just freezes up all the time. I did a complete wipe and the problem still returns. So much for the faster processor. I honestly don't see it. The browser on the 3g seems just as quick. So annoying!

I'm just about fed up with the 9650 also. The constant "freezing" is becoming annoying. April can't get here fast enough

well I never had the 9650 but I've been having my 9330 for 14 months and I haven't had not one problem on OS5.. I've tried OS6 and hated it on the curve, it was very laggy and no column view really killed me so I went back to OS5 and been problem free ever since! I say go for the curve if you want something simple and problem free but be sure to downgrade to OS5..

You don't see the "faster processor" because there isn't any lol.

It uses the same 528Mhz CPU that the original Storm (and Tour) had.

And for the record, the Curve 3G (9330) also uses the same CPU, as well as the 8530 (verified it in the engineering screens)

Am I the lucky one here ??? The only problem I had is no network connection third party apps which affect all not on BIS Blackberry in VietNam(easily fix with another third party app). No random re boots, no needs for battery pull, wipe etc. Maybe the phone wasn't cut for power users, then it's branded wrong since Bold are power user oriented(I use my phone for text, calls and Internet access via Wifi/ Opera)

I haven't had any major problems with my Bold 9650. It isn't perfect but it works just fine. I am running OS 6.

I have the curve 9650. Does re-start when I'm not in my service area alot. I do not receive all of my text messages and some don't ever get my texts. Other than that it's an ok phone.

The 9650 is a BOLD, and from your post, it appears that you do have some type of problem.

Just got done with my second today. Both were dropping calls, calls straight to vm, hanging out at 1x zero bars when my Boost is tapped and my wifes older BB on same network is tapped at 1XEV with 5 bars. Both phones were put in the "rception box" and both failed a bunch of transmitter tests.

Now both phones were brand new and less than 5 months old.

Sprint was happy to replace it with a 3rd one and I refused it. Told them to cancel all three lines adn they magically gave me some choices. I picked the HTC Arrive on the WP7 platform. I use my phone for business and travel. Lots of GPS, lots of word docs, xls. Tons of email and text, loads of internet and my job as a PR person means lots of social media. BB is pretty dead to me right now.

Droid has good social apps, but work wise its fairly useless for what I need and I am not a gamer. I don't need to pay $80 a month for a toy so the iPhone is out. We'll see how this works out. I have six months left after being a 10 year customer. I want to stay- lets see how it goes!

I just may have to downgrade to OS5. My previous Tour worked fine on OS5. Haven't been a big fan of the OS6. If it ain't broke don't fix it they say. Thanks for your suggestion to downgrade. I'll be doing that today.
