Default Downgraded to OS 5 today

I don't know maybe it's my imagination, but I have to say thinking back to the first time I used a 9650 to now that OS 5 is way lighter and runs smoother than OS 6 does on this device. I also appreciate that the browser allows me to select between mobile (BlackBerry user agent) or full screen (emulating IE or FireFox.)

    I'm a happy camper

Yeah, I never even went to 6 on my 9650. Heard too many differing tales and didn't want to go to the hassle of downgrading. I'll wait for my next newer BB for an OS upgrade. If it ain't broke, don't upgrade it. (Facebook for BB is a perfect example of that.)

OS 6 isn't awful. It doesn't make the 9650 unbearable or anything, as i've had it on here several months. Just between some missed browser features and overall performance, OS 5 is far more comfortable on the 9650 than is OS 6.

Of course, my two cents are worth exactly two cents.

Welcome to 2010, but seriously you should at least try the latest os6 and see if you like it. You can always go back to os5, just don't forget to back up everything before you do anything.

I thought OS6 was a big improvement over OS5. It did take a little getting used to but it wasn't a problem. Bottom line use whatever works for you.

I prefer OS 6 to 5 but the only thing missing is that the browser can't switch to IE or firefox for full site browsing. Then again with the dismal speed of the OS5 browser, it became a moot point

I don't see anything wrong with OS 5. It's a good os. My 9650 came with OS 6, so I just stuck with it. Before that I had a Curve on OS 4.5, so I skipped right over OS 5, but I'm sure 5 was closer to 4.5 than to 6. Even so, 4.5 was a good os, too, in my opinion.

Anyway, I love the Universal Search feature of OS 6. That's the main thing for me. But the one thing I did do on my 9650 was download all the OS 5 ringtones to supplement the Blackberry 6 ringtones.

OS 5 is a great OS. Outside of the browser upgrade for OS 6, I would prefer 5. I think that 5 was such an improvement over 4.7. It just seemed to get everything right. The 9650 on OS 5 is awesome.

OS7 is only avilable for OS7 devices. My 9650 came with BlackBerry 6, and it has been working so well that I haven't wanted to tamper with it, but I'm sure OS5 would work perfectly on it. It could even be better. I liken BlackBerry 6 on a 9650 to a Windows computer with the minimum required specs running Vista. A 9650 running OS5 would be like the same computer running XP: leaner, with less bloat.

OS5 when I had my 9650 was great. had no issues whatsoever. Then I upgraded to OS6 & all the troubles started happening, which made me switch to iPhone.
At the time I didn't know I could downgrade OS's lol, if I would have known that I would have downgraded & probably would have kept my 9650.
    It was a nice device.
