I'm sure it has features that outshine our 9650s...I am thinking of moving to one myself. But my 9650 has been so solid lately... |

Well, I didn't like the touchscreen honestly. If that could have been disabled or turned off, I would have kept it. The size was awesome, and the screen resolution was great as well. I really wanted to go back to OS 5, so I decided to sell it, and take a bit of a loss by going to a 9650.

Thanks for the info. A touchscreen is what worries me as well. I have used my husband's Droid and hate the touchscreen but haven't tried the 9930...
But OS5? Oh dear! You are really "old school" as Wulf said!!!

I like OS 5 honestly. OS 6 makes me want to punch a baby with those damn sliding panels. I may consider OS 6 along with a custom theme, but have heard of so many issues running 6 on the 9650. For as many people that don't have issues, I have seen people with issues.

I had an issue of rebooting for about 4 months. It turned out it was a corrupt contacts database. Every time I would load a OS I would just restore the same corrupt contact list. Use Gmail and sync your contacts and then delete them on your BB. When Gmail resyncs them back, all should be good. You can then cancel the Gmail sync. I went through the piece of paper for the battery, deleting apps, reloading the OS, even got a new battery and a CPO BB. Nothing fixed it until I figured the only thing the same on the 3 BBs I had was the calendar & contacts. Isn't always the last thing you check that fixes it? lol

Well, so far, so good. Knock on wood of course. After deleting a few of the apps, it appears to be very stable, like it was before. I think that I found the culprit, because I re-installed some of the apps. Advanced Call and LED notifier from App World is it, I think. I updated that app, and shortly after, things went haywire. I am running on 129 hours and 45 minutes of uptime currently since I deleted that app, and had any type of reboot, which was manual.
I hope that this solves my issue.

It worked fine before the update, however after the update, it seemed to become unstable. It may be a corrupt install, but I am not going to attempt to download it again. I was only using that app for the missed call alert and connect/disconnect vibrate setting.

Thank goodness people still have this phone because I just purchased it on Ebay for 160. The phone looks to be in great condition, judging from the pics anyway and it has 06 pre-installed. I cant wait to BBM some people when I get it.
Edit: I was going to buy the 9850 but with BB10 phones coming later this year I decided to hold off and save the $400 for one of those devices. I was just too anxious to get back on the bb platform.

I know a few people still on the 96xx/97xx platform, with some still on OS 5. Its a pretty solid device. I have had the 9700 and now the 9650, and I have loved them both. They both have some short comings, but overall its a great device. You will find ways around the stuff that falls short.
